Creative Art Sessions for Children

For centuries art has been used all over the world in a wildly range of therapies for young and old not only as a stimulation tool but also an expressive tool. Children who find it difficult to express themselves in words can use art to do so. Overview

The aim of the sessions is to provide the child a platform where they use art as a tool to express their thoughts, feelings and/or emotions. This is not traditional formal art sessions but rather a combination of art, creativity and inner experiences. The sessions introduce the child to the fundamentals of the arts namely the art elements.

Who should attend these sessions? Absolutely every child. This is beneficial learning not only for young artists but for every child since it is knowledge learned that can be carried with them through out their life regardless of their interests as grown ups. Providing a more well rounded and informed child, more balanced in recognizing and expressing their inner experiences. At the long run helping them to deal with the life’s curve balls better. Please refer to the list of benefits.

Often children struggle to express themselves in words especially if they have encountered trauma or other psychological experiences. This making it easier to deal with on a sub conscious level without expectations and intimidation. Done in a safe environment. Many counsellors, psychologists, therapists and psychiatrists refer to art as therapy for the many different benefits that it provides.

Each month one of the art elements will be the theme for the month. Every project will be explained and a practical project will be done. Demonstrating their own understanding regarding the specific topic. The projects are not only art orientated but designed in such a way that the child can freely express his/herself on an emotional level as well without fear of intimidation or critique. Different materials will be used based on the project.
