Overview

Living in times where we constantly thrive on new experiences, being creative not only stimulates the mind but provides endless possibilities. Access to information can be found around every corner. But, nothing beats the knowledge shared in practical demonstrations and time shared with others. You are invited to join me in this workshop where a step by step approach is given in how to apply decorative painting techniques correctly.

This workshop is suitable for every person who wants to learn more about decorative techniques. Whether you are a self doer, home owner, business person or just someone who are looking for an interesting activity to pursuit. This workshop will definitely widen your understanding relating to decorating painting techniques and broaden your perception. Please see the benefit list.

The workshop is designed to teach learners a combination of traditional decorative techniques and faux finishes. With an instruction manual the learners will have to follow the instructions step by step. The facilitator will assist them through each process.

The learners will start of with easier exercises, such as dragging. As they get more familiar and comfortable with each exercise they will progress to more difficult exercises. To make the exercises more manageable, the learners will use Masonite board to paint on. This giving the idea of a small scale wall.

It will take some practise to get use to the technique and ultimately mastering the technique. The mixing ratio between the paint, water and glazes are very important and differs with each technique.

There are many different painting techniques and methods. The ones I have selected are the most commonly used and are flexible to use not only on walls but furniture as well.

Techniques:

1. Dragging (Decorative Techniques)

2. Ragging (Decorative Techniques)

3. Colour wash (Decorative Techniques)

4. Distress (Faux Finishes)

5. Crackling (Faux Finishes)
